IORG – Maßnahmen gegen die Informationsflut

Am 15. Juli 2008 findet die offizielle Gründungsveranstaltung der sog. “Information Overload Research Group (IORG)” statt. Diese Organisation, die von IT-Firmen, darunter Microsoft, Intel, Google und IBM gebildet wurde, beschäftigt sich mit der Entwicklung von Lösungen, um dem übermäßigen persönlichen Nachrichtenaufkommen bei IT-Mitarbeiter entgegenzuwirken. Nach einer Studie der Beratungsfirma Basex verbringt typischer IT-Angestellter fast ein Drittel seiner Arbeitszeit unproduktiv, weil ständig unwichtige Nachrichten per Telefon, E-Mail oder Instant Messages ihn an seiner Arbeit hindern. Die Kosten auf Grund dieser unnötigen Arbeitsunterbrechungen beziffert Basex allein in den USA auf 650 Milliarden US-Dollar (420 Milliarden Euro).
